how I rid myself of heartburn

Hello all, I have just joined this nice forum. I jumped on this reflux forum when I saw it. I was wondering if anybody can corroborate my story. I'll make this short. I went vegetarian a while ago now...but, an unexpected side effect of not eating meat seamed to be no more heartburn. Previous to going veggie, I was getting heartburn about 6 times a week. I am just curious if anybody has had a similar experience, or could shed some light and enlighten me as to why and/or how this works? thank you much.
